Well, if anyone that said S60 is an OS in itself would look at the specs sheet of any Symbian smartphone, they would see that, for example 5230 runs Symbian 9.4 (which is the OS) with a S60v5 UI. S60 is an UI developed by Nokia on top of Symbian 9.4 long before they acquired Symbian. So, just like UIQ and MOAP, S60 is an user interface on top of Symbian OS.

Linux is the os , Ubuntu is just a distribution . Like windows , For windows 95 / 98 / and even me , the operating system was DOS , windows was some think like X in Linux .

I’m sorry but I’m a Ubuntu user…
Linux is just the kernel, and Ubuntu and the other distributions like fedora, mandriva, slackware, Debian…..are OS. I can say that i’m a “Linux” user but is wrong. I’m a GNU/linux user and my OS is Ubuntu.

I support ishan. S60 is itself a OS. Its so easy to understand. if u say linux is a OS but ubuntu is not, it will be nothing but a ignorance!

The S60 is a software platform for mobile phones that runs on Symbian OS. It is NOT the OS itself. !!
